Whether it’s hobby fishing for pickerel (walleye) as a pastime or participating in the highly anticipated annual Kenora Bass Masters International tournament, the fishing community of Clearwater Bay is a testament to the area’s rich aquatic life.
A Home for Many
The surrounding forest lies within a transition zone of three distinct natural environments: northern, southern and prairie. This biodiversity makes the area an ideal habitat for many different trees such as elm, ash and basswood as well as Manitoba maples, northern spruce and jack pine.
We believe that removing the trees in this area will allow for increased flow of toxic nutrients into the lake and impact the water quality at Clearwater Bay.

What happens when you clearcut?
- Removing trees causes run off of nutrients from the forest
- Increased nutrients levels resulted in algae blooms along the shoreline
- Decomposed blooms reduce oxygen levels of the water
- Low oxygen degrades the lake trout habitat and overall water quality
